An Italian climber who announced himself to the world with a stunning solo stage win in the Giro d'Italia as a 22-year-old.
Davide Formolo emerged from the cycling-rich region of Verona, turning professional in 2014 with the Cannondale team. His career trajectory was defined early by a breathtaking display of panache at the 2015 Giro d'Italia. On a mountainous stage to La Spezia, the young Italian broke away and held off the chasing favorites to claim a victory that signaled the arrival of a major talent. Since that breakout, Formolo has matured into a versatile and valued lieutenant for team leaders in Grand Tours, while also pursuing his own opportunities in one-day classics. His move to Movistar in 2022 marked a new chapter, where his experience and climbing prowess are deployed in support of the team's general classification ambitions. Formolo represents the classic Italian *gregario* with the explosive ability to seize his own moment in the sun.

Davide was born in 1992, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
