Biography
David Tennant played the Tenth Doctor on 'Doctor Who' from 2005 to 2010, a performance that defined the show's revival and drew a passionate international audience. Born David John McDonald in West Lothian, Scotland, he joined the Actors' Equity union at 16 to avoid a name conflict with another David McDonald. His early career mixed stage work with television roles: the manic Barty Crouch Jr. in 'Harry Potter' and the darkly compelling Casanova. Tennant infused the Time Lord with manic energy, wit, and heartbreaking vulnerability.
