A versatile Brazilian driver who conquered the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans after a Formula One career marked by bad timing.
Christian Fittipaldi carried the weight of a famous racing name into Formula One, but his legacy was ultimately forged on the endurance circuits. The nephew of two-time world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, he arrived in F1 with immense promise but found himself in uncompetitive cars at Minardi and Footwork. A spectacular, barrel-rolling crash at the 1993 Italian Grand Prix became a defining, if unfortunate, highlight. Shifting to American Champ Car racing, he found more success, winning races and finishing as championship runner-up in 2001. Yet his true mastery emerged in sports cars. Driving for the factory Audi and Porsche teams, Fittipaldi became a specialist in long-distance events, culminating in a victory at the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans. His career arc—from F1 prospect to seasoned endurance champion—showcased a remarkable adaptability and resilience over three decades of top-level motorsport.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Christian was born in 1971, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
