A Taiwanese pitching pioneer who carved a path to Japan's prestigious Yomiuri Giants, facing elite hitters in NPB.
Chiang Chien-ming's career is a chapter in the expanding story of Taiwanese baseball talent on the global stage. Born in 1985, he developed as a skilled starting pitcher in his homeland before catching the eye of scouts from Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, the highest level of play in Asia. In 2005, he signed with the Yomiuri Giants, one of Japan's most famous and successful franchises, becoming only the fifth Taiwanese player to wear their iconic uniform. His debut in 2006 was a milestone, and he secured his first win that August in his initial start. While his NPB statistics may not dominate record books, his journey represented a significant bridge. He competed against some of the world's best hitters in a demanding league, paving the way for future Taiwanese players and demonstrating the international reach of professional baseball talent.

Chiang was born in 1985, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
