An Australian rugby league genius whose dazzling footwork and visionary playmaking defined an era and later galvanized the New South Wales State of Origin team as coach.
Brad 'Freddy' Fittler entered rugby league as a prodigy, making his first-grade debut for the Penrith Panthers as a teenager. His playing style was a blend of raw power and unexpected grace; a hulking frame combined with balletic footwork and an offloading game that seemed to see the field two passes ahead of everyone else. He captained both his club, the Sydney Roosters, and his state, New South Wales, with a fierce, lead-from-the-front mentality, culminating in an NRL premiership in 2002. After retirement, his magnetic personality found a home in television. However, his most impactful second act began in 2018 when he took the helm of the perennially struggling New South Wales Blues. With unconventional methods and a focus on team culture, he broke Queensland's long dynasty, restoring pride and competitive fire to the jersey.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Brad was born in 1972, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
