A well-traveled striker whose unique international journey saw him represent three different national teams, from England schoolboys to Northern Cyprus.
Billy Mehmet’s football life is a map of unexpected ports of call. A London-born striker of Irish descent, he was an England schoolboy international and trained at the elite Lilleshall centre. His professional club career, however, never settled in England's top flight. Instead, he became a footballing nomad, finding success and becoming a fan favorite in Scotland with St. Mirren, where his physicality and work rate made him a cult hero. Later moves took him to Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, and Cyprus. This itinerant path led to a rare international chapter: after a stint with the Republic of Ireland U21s, he became eligible for and chose to represent the Northern Cyprus national team, a federation not recognized by FIFA, adding a unique footnote to his diverse career that has been defined by adaptability and a love for the game in its far-flung outposts.

Billy was born in 1984, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
