Biography

Andrzej Sapkowski began his writing career relatively late, a former fur trade representative who entered a fantasy magazine contest on a whim. From that short story emerged Geralt of Rivia, a white-haired mutant who navigates a world where fairy tales are grim and political intrigue is more dangerous than any beast. Sapkowski's work stood apart for its Slavic folklore roots, its philosophical depth, and its rejection of simple heroism. While initially a major success in Eastern Europe, the global phenomenon was ignited by CD Projekt Red's video game adaptations, which introduced Geralt to millions. Sapkowski, a figure of sharp wit and strong opinions on adaptation rights, watched his creation become a cornerstone of 21st-century pop culture, from Netflix series to comic books, all built on his foundation of gritty, intelligent fantasy.

Baby Boomers

1946–1964

The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.

Andrzej was born in 1948, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
