A 1990s teen screen fixture who traded Hollywood sets for spiritual community, charting an unexpected path far from the spotlight.
Andrew Keegan emerged in the mid-90s as the archetypal heartthrob, with floppy hair and a charming smirk that landed him roles in era-defining teen films like 'Camp Nowhere,' 'The St. Tammany Miracle,' and notably, the cult favorite '10 Things I Hate About You.' He was a familiar face on television as well, starring in the sitcom 'Thunder Alley.' At the height of this visibility, however, Keegan began stepping back from mainstream acting. His journey took a turn toward spirituality and community organizing in Venice Beach, California. In 2014, he co-founded Full Circle, a spiritual group and community space that garnered media attention, sometimes humorously dubbed a 'teen heartthrob cult.' While his acting work became more selective, this chapter reflected a personal search for meaning that was far removed from the Hollywood script he once followed.
1965–1980
The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Andrew was born in 1979, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
