A versatile Canadian racer who etched his name into IndyCar history with a dramatic, against-the-odds pole position at the Indianapolis 500.
Alex Tagliani captured the pole position for the 2011 Indianapolis 500 while driving for a small, single-car team. The Montreal native built his career in open-wheel racing, advancing through the ranks with raw talent and fierce determination. Though a full-time IndyCar Series victory eluded him, that qualifying run at Indianapolis became a defining moment. Tagliani then shifted to NASCAR's Canadian series, where he became a consistent front-runner and champion. He also competed in sports cars and stadium super trucks. Beyond driving, 'Tag' developed into a broadcaster, using his passionate, knowledgeable voice to explain the sport to fans long after he left the cockpit.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Alex was born in 1972, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
