An elegant Italian defender whose intelligent reading of the game anchored Fiorentina's backline for seven seasons during their Serie A resurgence.
Alessandro Gamberini, born in 1981, embodied the classic, cerebral Italian centre-back. His career was not defined by thunderous tackles but by positional intelligence, anticipation, and a calm authority that organized defenses. After formative years at Bologna, he found his true home at Fiorentina in 2005. There, under managers like Cesare Prandelli, he became a defensive pillar during the Viola’s compelling climb back into Serie A’s upper echelon and memorable European campaigns. His partnership with other defenders was key to a team that played with both flair and solidity. A spell at Napoli followed, adding a Coppa Italia to his accolades, before he closed his playing days with spells at Genoa and Chievo. True to his thoughtful approach to the game, Gamberini moved directly into coaching upon retirement, starting as an assistant, aiming to impart his deep tactical understanding to a new generation.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Alessandro was born in 1981, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
